Feelings, Actions, and ... Thoughts

  • We cannot control our feelings. However unpleasant, we have to be honest and open to them and channel their energy.
  • Our actions are our responsibility. We can modify them, first, by being mindful and observant, and second, by practice.
  • Thoughts, oh damn thoughts; they are somewhere in the middle and I do not know what to do with them :)

  1. If you learn a way how to deal with your thoughts let me know, I have the same problem :)

  2. Actually, I remembered that I have read about "Automatic Negative Thoughts" and the way to deal with them ... It is a useful concept/practice. I do not have a good reference now, but I may be able to find if you want :)

  3. My interpretation: they either have the potential to lead to an action, or they are at the level of a feeling. Then they can be converted/categorized within those two, and dealt with accordingly.

  4. Dear Nava,

I can trust my feelings, but cannot trust my thoughts, at least not all of them.

I can modify my actions, but again, I cannot train my thoughts, they can become wild :)

This is more like every day challenge for me, not a philosophical concept :D
But, I will try your suggestion to see how it works in practice.

  5. I don't think that you cannot control your feelings! I am currently practicing to "enjoy more" and as I practice, I think I am *really* enjoying more. I feel it, not that I think about it.

  6. salaam shadi jaan :)

How do you practice enjoying more? Maybe you can tell me on Friday face to face :D

    See you soon!
